Sunday 13th May
So, here I am in San Marcello Pistoiese once more. The proprietor of the Albergo Il Cacciatore very kindly collected me from Pisa airport, in true hospitable style. Although, I arrived at 10:30 in the evening, it wasn’t a problem for him to whip me up a quick Tagliatelle Ragu, which would have been perfectly adequate but this was promptly followed by a wonderfully thin beef steak, simply served with a slice of lemon and a side salad of Radicchio Rosso. This would have been perfectly adequate but, then out came the Strawberry Panacotta, which was simply divine and slid down into the small gap that’s always left for the perfect dessert. All of this hospitality is just part of Riccardo Lenzini’s (the proprietor) wonderful character. I arrived last night at Pisa airport, ahead of our next hiking group in attempt to immerse myself in the region before they arrive on Wednesday. This time we have 28 Americans affiliated to the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) arriving in Italy to spend 1 week here in Tuscany and then we will relocate to The Cinque Terre for a further week. I am certainly looking forward to another wonderful hiking tour. Let’s see what the day has in store for us. I think I know but, there’s always a surprise!
